ode to glitter

oh glitter
oh glitter
so bright and so free
i have loved you intensely
ever since i was three
on my eyes
on my nails
on my shoes
on my girls
your inkly tinkly sparkle
even defrizzes my curls
i love you big
i love you little
and powdered and gluey
you make the birds sing
and the cows go mooey.
so thank you dear glitter
for being so true
out of all the embellishments
(pom poms, buttons, silk flowers, ric rac, stickers)
i choose YOU!

matching outfits

the other day i said i never dressed my kids alike.
i guess i lied...
cause i just found this picture.
my mom bought my girls these dresses.
oh wait, no, now i remember.
my mom bought sasha (the little one) her dress at a schmancy store in ITALY!
and then i bought the SAME dress for lily (the big one) for $5.99 at the children's place!
seriously!
my mom went to italy.
i went to 78th street!
CP must have knocked it off...
and i thought it was so hysterical and insane that i bought them matching dresses.
but i gotta say...
i'm not into the dressing alike thing.
i know a lot of people that are.
like, some of my favorite sister in laws...(hehe)
but it's not me.
et tu?

faith looks up

every time we go to my sister in law's house we pass this church.
i don't know what kind of church it is.
catholic?
protestant?
baptist?
who knows.
but it has a sign in front...
that always changes.
and i always like what it says.
for years i've been meaning to write the sayings down.
but i'm always too busy getting someone a sippy cup or singing the soundtrack to hairspray at the top of my lungs - so i don't.
but last week, i loved the sign.
it said...

sorrow looks back...
worry looks around...
faith looks UP!

i am not religious at all.
at all.
but i really liked this sign.
