the good news is...we inherited 3 pairs of crocs from my niece.
the bad news is...we didn't inherit the jibbitz that were on them.
(the shoes got too small, the bling didn't!)
so...
rather than waste my cash on plastic doo-hickies, lily and i made some to celebrate the spring!
INGREDIENTS:
*needle
*thread
*buttons galore: some flat (like from shirts) and some with little plastic or metal loops on the back, plus some decorative ones too (butterflies, ladybugs, spiders, whatever...)
*embellishments (silk flowers, rhinestones, bells, etc...)
*hot glue gun (optional)
1. thread the needle. have your child (or help your child...or just do it yourself...) sew a flat button to a decorative button (one that has a little loop on the back.) just sort of sew around and around and loop them together...then knot it. there's no real science to this - just make sure you sew it so it's nice and STRONG.
2. embellish the jibbit if u want. we put rhinestones on EVERYTHING!
3. slip the jibbit into the croc hole. WOO HOO! springy blingy jibbitz!
4. if you want to make a non-button thing into a jibbit (flower, felt, plastic or foamy doo-hicky) just sew a flat button to a plain button with a little loop on the back. hot glue your doo-hicky right onto the plain button with the loop on the back. let it dry for a few minutes and then slip it into your croc!
we made a whole bunch and had a great time!
the only problem was...it was FREEZING today and i wouldn't let her wear the crocs! oops!
maybe tomorrow...
